Ribadeo stands at the far north-east of Galicia, at the mouth of the Eo, the river that marks the border with Asturias, and has around ten thousand residents. A bridge crosses the estuary, and the Asturian bank opposite is already another region with its own rules and prices.
The town is known for As Catedrais beach: at low tide the water withdraws and exposes stone arches several storeys high that you can walk beneath. In summer entry is by booking.
