Camariñas is a municipality on a peninsula by the inlet of the same name, on the Costa da Morte, with around five thousand residents. The town is known for lace: bobbin lace-making has been a craft here for centuries, with a museum and an annual fair of its own.
The shore around is severe: Cabo Vilán with its lighthouse, cliffs, and the English Cemetery — graves of sailors from a ship wrecked here in the late nineteenth century. This is the Costa da Morte in its purest form. For anyone moving: very cheap housing, quiet and distance. The hospital at Cee is half an hour away, A Coruña over an hour. Rain all year, constant wind, a cold sea.

3The main queue is in Santiago. After a fire at its police station in February 2026 people waited up to eight weeks for a fingerprint appointment, and the Galician immigration lawyers association calls the backlog permanent rather than temporary. Since 17 June 2026 the provincial authorities book the appointment for you, but only if the permit was granted inside Spain. Anyone who arrived on a visa still has to catch a slot themselves.
