March splits the island in two more sharply than any month except November. In Palma load is 3 out of 5, the shops, doctors and schools all work, and winter liveability is 5 out of 5. In Pollença and Alcúdia in the north load is 1 out of 5 and the winter scores are 2 and 1: in March most of what opens for summer is shut. The difference is not only in people — Palma is the only place on the islands in our base with a railway station, the airport is 15 minutes away and the hospital 10. From Pollença it is 60 minutes to the airport and 31 to the hospital.
