May is when it becomes clear that Granada is a student city. Its university is one of the country's oldest, founded in the sixteenth century, and tens of thousands of students live here. Hence the cheap rent (€605 for a one-bedroom), the dense nightlife, and the way the city empties in summer. For a family that is both an argument for and against.
