May on Gran Canaria is 20.5 °C by day and 20.5 °C in the sea. This is the between-season: the winterers have gone, the summer crowd has not arrived, and load in the south drops to 2 out of 5 — it goes that low only in May and June.

May is the island's quietest month and therefore its most honest. In Maspalomas and Mogán you can see in May what runs outside the winter season and what only opens for it; Maspalomas scores 4 for winter, Mogán 5. The north changes less: Las Palmas and Telde never go above load 3 out of 5 and score 5 out of 5 for winter. On the ministry's appraisal the square metre is €1,796 in Telde and €2,321 in Las Palmas; Maspalomas has only an asking price, €3,100, which cannot be compared directly with an appraisal.
