It scores 4 out of 5 for winter liveability, and that is not a guess: hotels, doctors, shops and buses run all twelve months, because the town is built around winterers rather than around August. Tourist load in December is 3 out of 5 against 5 in summer — noticeably fewer people, but the streets are not empty.
